Craft + Activism
Sometimes, the most effective resistance is found in building community and in making something with our hands. Joy and humor and beauty are needed now more than ever.
We’re launching a craftivism (craft + activism) group in an effort to bring people together to develop creative (and crafty) ways to express ourselves, advance our social justice causes, and imagine a better world.

OUR "WHY" KNOTS Project · NO KINGS 3
We had a fantastic time at the NO KINGS 3 protest as hundreds of people joined our community art project, titled
Our “Why” Knots.
Participants wrote on strips of fabric about why they are getting active. People wrote about protecting democracy, about welcoming our immigrant neighbors, about wanting our LGBTIA+ friends and family to flourish, about providing safe schools and communities for our children, and many more reasons for coming out for protests and continuing to take action.
Each fabric strip was tied onto our frame, and together we created the shape of a crown. At the end of the day, we used red ribbons to cross out the crown and complete the NO KINGS symbol.
Whether you had a chance to participate with us this time or not, we hope you’ll take some time to think about your “Whys” and use them as the inspiration and purpose to take the next small action. As with our communal art project, we are stronger together!
